I walk past this new giant every week day on my way in.

Well folks, I’m officially over the moon to be back working at the financial institution that acquired the one that I was employed at for so many years. I’m sorry to speak in code, but most of you will know the company of which I speak. I don’t plan to say anything particularly negative, but I don’t feel familiar enough to name names. Just seems more prudent at this time to refrain from doing so.

This time, I’m there as a contractor and that is a little different though not altogether unfavorable. The biggest difference is probably how my account is setup on the intranet (I’m referred to as a managed resource and don’t show up in any org chart) and the fact that I know my tenure is limited to 1.5 years. What’s really interesting is that so many of the old familiar faces I run into in the hallways are in the exact same category I am, as a contractor. It seems to be the new norm.

The Urban Jungle

While it’s not that “Pie In The Sky” working environment that the organization was 3 names back, it is nicer than the last organization in it’s declining years. Very nice facilities and break rooms complete with complementary green tea and coffee and generally a low pressure atmosphere. The people I’ve met so far which I will be working with seem positively lovely and I look forward to the work we will do together for the next 18 months.

Mainly, I feel blessed to be back in the bigs, with a large company. I do believe that God has placed me where he wants me to be right now. With the old position getting dissolved alone with our team and so many other teams, through no fault of our own, I couldn’t help feeling like somehow I had fallen short. It’s human nature. Now I’m back, essentially in the same spot and that feels great. I’ve had a trying 13 months since that old job ended with so many unexpected trials and tribulations coming my way at a time when I was already in something of a valley in my life. It’s true that God won’t place on us more than we can bare. Diversity does build character and strength. I feel like I’ve come through something and it has changed me for the better. I feel like I’m on a way of positivity now and I want to go forward with confidence and strive to do my very best in all aspects of my life. In essence to live life more abundantly.Well folks, I’m officially over the moon to back working at the financial institution that acquired the one that I was employed at for so many years.
