Hello My Friends,

It’s been sometime since a post here on my personal site. I guess Facebook has really changed things for most personal sites with the instant updates most of us favor in lieu of a full-fledged blog post. In any case, I hope to start posting here more often.

Walking on Tryon

At Stony Mountain Winerey

So what’s up with me? Well, the new position with WF is going pretty great I’d have to say. I’m still not busy but do have busy days from time to time and having reacquainted myself with the development tools they use, things are running smoothly. Once again, this company is extremely easy to work for allowing amazingly flexibility with regards to work hours. I’m part of a team of very friendly and generous people and that makes it a fun place to be.

I’ve finally gotten back in the habit of attending church each Sunday and that has in so many ways been a blessing itself. It’s certainly helped me to remain focused on the important things. As an artist, it’s easy to get wrapped up in your own ambitions. Our Pastor recently reminded me of (Psalm 127:1, 2 NASB) “Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it:”

That really stuck with me. It’s so relevant to recent projects I have sunk so much effort into only to be disappointed. Putting God first is something I think everyone struggles with. Having a spiritual influence on my life and being around people who live their lives in a spiritual manner is important to my development as a Christian and a human being. I’m glad to be finally taking some baby steps in that area.

Anyways, in other news, my new album is getting really close to the mixing stage. It’s been going on for two years now. Mutantville Productions projects have really sucked a lot of my free time and almost all my artistic focus for the past several years. I do see that changing in short order. I really want to get my artistic output more narrowly focused into things that reflect me more directly.

Liam Lays Down Some Gears of War Destruction

I’d really like to make some films that include my children, Summer and Liam. Summer  turns 17 next month. Can you believe that?  It seems like only a few years ago we were bringing her back from Japan at only a few months old. Where does the time go?

I’ve taken the opportunity to be involved in at least one film outside of Mutantville and that turned out to be rewarding and fun. I provided a bit of art direction and some Visual Effects work to Robert FiIlion’s Athena. Check that out on Facebook if you are interested in a very original indie Science Fiction/ Horror film.

A Recent Athena Shoot

Ok, so here is a biggie. For the past several weeks I’ve switched over to a vegetarian diet. Technically my

Diet is Pescatarian, because I do still eat fish. So far it’s not been too difficult. I can’t really say that I’ve felt any different.  Why did I make this move? Did I mention that I plan to live at a minimum one century? A 1999 meta-study of five studies comparing vegetarian and non-vegetarian mortality rates in Western countries found that in comparison with regular meat eaters, mortality from ischemic heart disease was 34% lower in Pescatarian and vegetarians, 26% lower in vegans and 20% lower in occasional meat eaters. That’s right! Those smarty pants Vegans scored lower than Pescatarians. So fish is goooooooood, as long as you don’t have too much of the varieties containing high mercury content. Furthermore, my wife has been a Pescatarian for some years now and I wanted us to be equally yoked!

I’ll be honest, I like a steak as much as the next guy and I don’t think that the bi-monthly steak would affect the average person one way or the other, but if you happen to be genetically pre-disposed to heart disease it very well could. Speaking just for me, I’ll probably miss chicken a lot more than steak. Now there are so many vegetarian options out there that work just fine once you get used to them, it’s almost like having meat. Veggie franks and soy based fake spaghetti meat is perfectly fine for me. I’m not disavowing meat for life just yet, but I did want to give this an honest try and see what kind of difference it could make for me.

The Music Lovin Guys from Blak Saturn
